The “Miscellaneous” Mixes: Fruitcake & Dreidels

Back in September, my girlfriend and I started kicking around the idea of making a holiday-themed mix for our pals. And, in our typical fashion, we completely obsessed and “nerded out” over the idea. We immediately started dumping every and any song having to do with the holidays into an enormous iHopper of music. Our list of search terms was extensive: “Christmas,” “Hanukkah,” “presents,” “snow,” “ice,” “cold,” “winter,” “jacket,” “sleigh,” “dreidel,” etc. It went on and on and on. Fortunately we already had a bunch of stuff in mind, but since we’re both such ridiculous completists, we were petrified that we might miss something. With that, we put together a few hours worth of music that, somehow, we whittled down to just under 80 minutes. Or, more specifically (and certainly more fittingly), 25 songs.

So, without further adieu, Ho, Ho, Ho and shit!

Well, there you have it: your audio Advent calendar. Incidentally, I urge — nay, demand! — you pick up Joe Pesci’s record. It’ll blow your mind, then make you cry, then make you shit your pants. Twice.

That’ll do it for this (belated) holiday season. Until next time, have at it, you vultures!

  1. I listened to this several times over the holidays. It is a fantastic mix, and I love the Joe Pesci finale. Thanks man!
